Meet Other New Moms at MLFEd

Becoming a mother is one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences in life. It can bring joy, love, and fulfillment, but also stress, anxiety, and isolation. The transition to motherhood is not always easy, and many new moms struggle with their physical, emotional, and social changes.

A Support Series for New Moms

That’s why Main Line Family Education offers New Moms: Support & Connections, a program designed to help new mothers cope with the demands and expectations of motherhood. This 5-week series covers topics such as postpartum recovery, infant care and demands, partner roles and adjustments, self-care, and more. The group also provides a safe and supportive space for new moms to share their feelings, challenges, and successes with other moms who are going through the same thing. Babies in arms are welcome! We have a comfortable space and encourage moms to make themselves at home in our studio.

Find Your New Mom “Village”

You’ll find your new mom “village” here at MLFEd! We encourage each cohort to meet outside of the program to grab coffee or go for walks. An optional participant-only WhatsApp group is created to connect moms between weekly sessions and to help form and develop these new friendships. Groups continue to use the WhatsApp chat to ask the many questions that come up when caring for a baby and to plan playdates, even after their series has ended!

Expert Guidance from a Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Each session is led by an experienced and certified facilitator. Dr. Beth Krause Ph.D., LCP, a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in women’s mental health and wellness. For over 15 years, she has been at the forefront of developing and implementing prevention and intervention programs for women and girls that can be administered in community, medical, and school settings. Dr. Krause is passionate about helping new mothers thrive and uses evidence-based practices that have been shown to effectively reduce women’s stress and boost mental health and resiliency.

Currently, Dr. Krause holds Department of Psychology appointments as a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Swarthmore College.
