At MLFEd, our instructors for the classes listed above are Labor and Delivery Board Certified Registered Nurses. They have been present for hundreds of births. Attending a small class with them provides you with the opportunity to have your questions answered by professionals who can tell you what the birth experience is really like.
As Nurses and Educators, we feel strongly that spending time in a classroom preparing for labor is the best way to empower yourself and take charge of your childbirth experience. Learning about your body and your baby will allow you to make the best decisions for your family when your due date arrives.
Think of maternity-focused classes as a form of Self-Care. You will learn what to expect when you go into labor, how to actively work with your labor by practicing relaxation techniques beforehand, and plan out your partner’s role for how they can best support you.
Breastfeeding 101 provides the expectant mother with information that eases the transition into nursing during the first several days of baby’s life. By learning what to expect from your body and your baby at the beginning of your breastfeeding journey, you will give yourself the best possible start to this incredibly rewarding, mutually beneficial (and sometimes initially challenging) experience.
Newborn Basics is geared towards expectant parents who want to learn how to safely and confidently care for their baby. We discuss feeding, diapering, sleep, behavior, health, safety, and soothing strategies specific to newborns in the first 8 weeks of life. This class is a wonderful introduction to the world of parenting. It provides families with knowledge that makes the first few “getting to know you” weeks after birth easier to navigate.
